"R" stands for "round and tight". This line is made in a very special braiding process from peak UHMWPE fibres. Type R12, for example, consists of 300x8 = 2400 individual fibres which are braided together at a very small angle. This creates an almost circular cord cross section with arrow-like dimples on the surface. This "round and firm" special braiding has, in addition to the very good overall properties, another great advantage that many other so-called "braided" lines do not have.

Namely: With all STROFT GTP lines a self-locking spliced loop can be made, which has a much higher load-bearing capacity than all other known knotted connections.

Types R01 to R06 are extremely fine cords with an actual cross section range corresponding to diameters of 0.07 mm (R01) to 0.13 mm (R06). A special peak UHMWPE fibre, bundled in strands, with only a few individual fibres each, allows entry into this range. However, mass production on a larger scale is not economical, as there is no larger area of application for these thicknesses. Nevertheless, we present these finest types here, also to show what is technically possible. And maybe someone is looking for such "spinning threads" for special applications?
