Fly Fishing Courses

Fly fishing is not hard to learn - with your AOS instructor team!

For anyone wanting to dive into the world of fly fishing for the first time, as well as for experienced anglers looking to refine their casting technique with the help of professional instructors, we offer specialized fly fishing schools. The casting clinic take place on weekends and introduce beginners and advanced anglers alike to a wide variety of fly casting techniques.

Casting Clinic Schedule

You will begin your fly fishing lesson with a theoretical introduction in a relaxed atmosphere. Here, you will learn the essentials regarding the physics of the casting cycle, the importance of the equipment and valuable knowledge about reading the waters and entomology. This first introduction lasts about 1.5 hours, followed by dry land training. With our support, you will put what you have learned into practice. Through easy-to-understand exercises, you will acquire a clean motion sequence, forming the foundation for all further casting variations (Overhead Cast, Roll Cast, Switch Cast).

Perfectly matched equipment for fly fishing right from the beginning

A tip from us, your instructors: Poorly balanced gear - especially a mismatched combination of fly rod and fly line - often ruins the fun and enjoyment of fly fishing for beginners and experts alike. During the courses, you have the opportunity to test and cast perfectly balanced tackle from top brands like Orvis, Sage, Hardy, Loop, Vision, Scott, Guideline, etc. We are, of course, happy to provide our expertise to help you match and assemble your gear during the course days.

You will be amazed at how simple casting a fly can be!

No, don't worry! You don't usually need an official fishing license to take part in our courses, as we teach on private or club waters for whom we issue day licenses and guest fishing permits.

Can I learn fly fishing in a weekend?

Yes, absolutely! Our curriculum is structured so that beginners can confidently learn the basics of casting and fishing within two days. With our guidance, you will soon be celebrating your first success.

No. We provide high-quality loaner gear (rod, reel, line) from top brands like Sage, Orvis, Hardy, Loop or Vision free of charge for the duration of the course. This way, you learn with the best equipment right from the start.

What should I bring with me? (Packing List)

To enjoy your day at the water, we recommend bringing:

  • Polarized Sunglasses: Essential for eye protection and spotting fish!
  • Headwear: A cap or hat for sun protection.
  • Clothing: Weatherproof layers ("onion principle") in muted colors (grey/green/brown).
  • Waders / Boots: If you don't have your own, please ask us about rental options.
Does the casting clinic take place if it's bad weather?

Generally, yes - fish will eat in the rain too! We only adjust the schedule or reschedule in case of safety risks like thunderstorms or high water levels.
