The remote private island of Punta Pájaros extends for twenty-five miles between Ascension and Espiritu Santo Bays, in the Yucatan state of Quintana Roo. A truly unique tropical paradise, the island rests in the center of one of the world’s largest protected areas and Unesco World Heritage site, the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve. From a fly-fisherman’s perspective, the location could not be better.
The Fishing
Fast becoming a spot on every saltwater anglers bucket list, Ascension Bay is a place where all of the stars align. Possibly the best location in the world to accomplish a grand slam, the bay is teeming with all of the flats species year-round. From rivers, lagoons and classic sand flats, there are endless possibilities to wade or fish from the boat. Numerous perfect bonefish flats dot the bay, the permit water is endless, and the creek and river inlets in the back of the bay can keep a snook and tarpon fisherman busy for days. While fly-fishing is the main activity pursued by our guests, this pristine slice of paradise has much more to offer. Snorkeling and kayaking the turquoise waters, hiking and biking along our 25 miles of private beaches and coves, touring the mangrove lagoons and the Mayan ruins, or simply indulging in a massage and a day of relaxation are just a few possibilities. All activities are personally tailored to suit guest schedules.

Accomodation
Casa Blanca is an angler‘s paradise. Situated on the northern tip of Punta Pájaros with immediate access to the prime fishing areas of Ascension Bay, our guests spend less time travelling to the fish. The lodge is built right on the water, overlooking a beautiful flat visited daily by bonefish schools, permit and tarpon. All rooms are spacious and well appointed with remarkable ocean views, air conditioning, tile floors and mahogany shutters. In the open-air main lodge you will find comfortable lounging chairs and a fully stocked bar with accommodating bartender. Casa Blanca is remote but not disconnected. The main lodge has wireless Internet for guest use. There is no regular telephone service, but satellite phones are available for a small fee.

Getting there
Once in Cancun, guests are met by a lodge representative and helped to board the quick charter flight to the lodge. The private charter is approximately 45 minutes south, passing above the beautiful Mayan Riviera and the resort areas of Playa del Carmen and Tulum. The Casa Blanca lodge airstrip is only a couple minutes by boat from the main lodge.
