Until the end of the 19th century, amadou has been used during many years as emostatic in surgery before the cotton wool and later synthetic absorbent.

This material is durable and still the best to dry your flies with care. Raw material sheet (105x150mm).

Details
The rough material comes to the "Amadouvier" parasitic fungus which grow on tree like beech, Poplar, Oak or Lime trees. The latin name is "Ungulina formentaria". The fingus look like a horse foot, is black, from grey or beige and can be form 0,2 to 0,4 m wide. Cut into slices, bolded, hammered, draimed, the material comes softer.
